Isha accredited to start community college offering 14 diploma courses

COIMBATORE: Isha Education Charitable Trust, Vellingiri has got accreditation from Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) to start a community college and conduct 14 courses. The authorities of Isha Community College plan to provide training to many rural and underprivileged youngsters in neighbouring villages and award them diplomas after they successfully complete their courses.
TNOU has accredited the college to offer diploma courses on Welding Technology, Industrial Fitter, Beautician, Fashion Design and Garment Making, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician, Automotive Service Technician, Plumbing, DTP Operator, Computer Applications, Computer Hardware Servicing, General Duty Assistant, Multi Cuisine Cook, Mechanic (Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation) and Early Childhood Care and Education. “The scope of courses offered will be increased based on the inclinations of the rural community,” said a statement from Isha Foundation.
Further, Isha has tied up with a few local industries to provide internship to the students, thereby increasing their employability and plans to tie up with many more industries to create more employment opportunities for the students.
Sadhguru in his twitter page recently tweeted saying, “Accreditation of Isha Community College by Tamil Nadu Open University begins a new chapter towards reaping the benefits of India’s demographic dividend by imparting skills to underprivileged youth of Tamil Nadu. Creating skilled, inspired & focused youth is need of the hour.”
